Empowerment Construction & Development (ECD) is a Newark-based, women-owned construction firm supporting public-sector, infrastructure, institutional, and commercial projects throughout the region. ECD is NJ Public Works Registered, W/MBE certified, and a Port Authority of NY & NJ–certified Local Business Enterprise (LBE – EWR Zone 1).
ECD delivers interior construction, general carpentry (rough and finish), general conditions, site support, final construction cleaning, and accessibility improvements. The firm is capable of performing work in both union and open-shop environments and operates under PLA and non-PLA project requirements, allowing ECD to support a wide range of public and institutional construction programs.
The firm has developed a strong specialization in ADA-compliant renovations and environmental modifications, including work performed under programs administered by the New Jersey Department of Human Services and all five managed care organizations in the state. This experience gives ECD a deep understanding of building in regulated environments where documentation, coordination, and compliance are critical to successful delivery.
In addition to accessibility and modification work, ECD supports general contractors and public agencies with interior renovations, trade packages, site support, and closeout scopes, providing disciplined execution in schedule-driven and high-accountability environments.
