Empowerment Construction & Development (ECD) is a Newark-based, women-owned construction firm supporting public-sector, infrastructure, institutional, and commercial projects throughout the region. ECD is NJ Public Works Registered, W/MBE certified, and a Port Authority of NY & NJ–certified Local Business Enterprise (LBE – EWR Zone 1).
ECD delivers interior construction services, specializing in general carpentry (rough and finish), interior renovations and build-outs, ceiling systems, doors, frames and hardware, and ADA-compliant accessibility improvements. The firm operates in both union and open-shop environments and performs under PLA and non-PLA project requirements, supporting public-sector, healthcare, and institutional construction programs.
ECD has experience performing work in active healthcare environments, including ceiling systems installation within hospital settings in accordance with ICRA 2.0 infection control protocols. Our team executes work in occupied spaces with a strong emphasis on safety, coordination, and maintaining controlled, inspection-ready conditions.
