Empowerment Construction & Development (ECD) is a Newark-based, women-owned full service construction firm supporting public-sector, infrastructure, institutional, and commercial projects. ECD delivers interior construction, general carpentry (rough and finish), general conditions, site support, and final construction cleaning in complex, schedule-driven environments.
ECD is NJ Public Works Registered and a Port Authority NY NJ Certified Local Business Enterprise (EWR Zone 1), supporting participation in Newark Airport Redevelopment and other major public-sector construction programs.
ECD is capable of performing work in both union and open-shop environments and supports projects operating under PLA and non-PLA requirements. The firm is structured to support prime contractors and public agencies with trade packages, site support scopes, and closeout services on large, multi-contractor projects.
In addition to its core construction services, ECD performs ADA-compliant renovations and environmental modifications, including work delivered under programs administered by the New Jersey Department of Human Services and all five managed care organizations in the state.
